OCW Community Forum with Dr. David Vine

OCW670 is honored to welcome Dr. David Vine, acclaimed author and formerly a Professor of Anthropology at American University to our beautiful island of Saipan!

– Date: November 14, 2025 (Friday)
– Time: Starting at 6 PM
– Location: Caravan of Food, Saipan

Dr. Vine’s groundbreaking work has shed light on the global impact of U.S. militarization, from its social and environmental consequences to its effects on communities around the world. His books, including Island of Shame, Base Nation and The United States of War, have become essential reading for understanding how global military networks and bases shape our lives.

This gathering is a chance to reflect on how these global forces resonate right here in the Marianas, and how our communities are making sense of militarization’s local impacts. Come for an evening of great food, conversation, and insight.

Don’t forget to RSVP at ourcommonwealth670@gmail.com or mark yourself as “Going” on the facebook event page HERE.

Free copies of Dr. Vine’s books will be given out at the event on a first come first serve basis and will be signed by Dr. Vine at the event!
